David Bowie tribute album tracklisting announced



The tracklisting for a forthcoming David Bowie tribute album has been announced, reports StrangeGlue.com


Featuring the likes of MGMT, A Place To Bury Strangers, Soulwax and Duran Duran, the album also includes a Spanish version of 'Sound + Vision' by Devendra Banhart's Megapuss, and also 'Red Money' by Swahili Blonde and John Frusciante.
Set for release in May, the record boasts a 28-song tracklisting, with all proceeds going to charity Warchild.

David Bowie Political Life

In the 1970s, Bowie caused controversy for some politically radical comments, saying that Britain could benefit from a fascist leader and that Adolf Hitler was 'the first super-star'. Such comments were a major source of stated motivation behind the Rock Against Racism group.

In September 2007, he made a contribution of $10,000 to the NAACP for the Jena Six Legal Defense Fund to help with legal bills of six black teenagers arrested and charged with crimes related to their involvement in the assault of a white teenager in Jena, Louisiana.

The discography of the British rock musician David Bowie contains 25 studio albums, 8 live albums, 46 compilation albums, 5 extended plays (EPs), 108 singles and 3 soundtracks. Bowie has also launched 13 video albums and 47 music videos. Born David Jones, Bowie's debut album was the 1964 single "Liza Jane" by Davie Jones & the King Bees. He released two more singles in 1965 under the names of The Manish Boys and Davy Jones & the Lower Third. His first launch using the name David Bowie was the 1966 single "Can't Help Thinking About Me", which was released with The Lower Third. Bowie's next single, "Do Anything You Say", also released in 1966, was the first release by simply David Bowie. Bowie released four more singles and his debut album, David Bowie (1967), in the late 1960s before he first had success in the United Kingdom with the 1969 single "Space Oddity". The single reached number five on the UK Singles Chart after it was released five days before the Apollo 11 mission – which landed the first men on the moon
